Okie Film Nights presented by Experience Tulsa has a special double feature in store for April, and the $5 ticket gets you into both films!

First up at 6:00p, see “Rumble Fish,” based on the classic novel by Tulsa’s own S.E. Hinton and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Hinton and Coppola collaborated on the screenplay while “The Outsiders” was filming, and the result was a gorgeous black and white feature with a stellar cast and score by Steward Copeland of The Police. After an intermission, the second feature of the evening at 8pm is “Locaciones: Searching for Rusty James.” This documentary from Argentina was originally released in 2013 and traces the legacy the film had on director Alberto Fuguet as the film made its way from Tulsa to South America.

Presented with Experience Tulsa, Okie Film Night is a monthly series celebrating Oklahoma’s rich film history past and present. Learn more about other events at ExperienceTulsaHub.org.

Rumble Fish (1983): 1h34min, drama, rated R. Disaffected and restless, Rusty James (Matt Dillon) is spoiling for a fight. Abandoned by his mother and living with his alcoholic father (Dennis Hopper), he hangs out with his girlfriend, Patty (Diane Lane), and his similarly aimless friends Midget (Larry Fishburne), Smokey (Nicolas Cage) and B.J. Jackson (Christopher Penn). When his brother, the Motorcycle Boy (Mickey Rourke), returns to town, Rusty hopes to gain guidance and wisdom from someone most people think is crazy.

Locaciones (2013): 1h33min, doc, not rated. The film is a personal meditation by director Alberto Fuguet on “Rumble Fish,” the legendary film directed by Francis Ford Coppola in 1983; the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, where it was shot; and its impact on the life of several people from Chile, Argentina and Uruguay related to film industry.
