"Home Court" is the coming-of-age story of Ashley Chea, a Cambodian American basketball prodigy in Southern California whose life intensifies as recruitment heats up. As she overcomes injury as well as racial and class differences between her home and private school worlds, in peer groups, and against rival schools, Ashley strives to become her own person and leave a legacy behind.
Hosted by Sydney Alison, the free screening of "Home Court" will feature a zoom Q&A with the director Erica Tanamachi and special guest Ta'Vianna Davis.
About Ta'Vianna:
My name is Ta’Vianna Davis. I was born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma, north side to be exact! I attended Tulsa Public Schools, graduating from East Central High, where I was a 4x state champ in basketball and track. I went on to continue sports at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, I played 2 years of semi pro with the Kansas City Nuggets. In 2013 I found my way back home to teach and Coach High school girls basketball. A few years at McLain high, and a few at Central High. In 2016-17 I started my Emergency Service career, becoming the SECOND black female from Tulsa to join the Tulsa Fire Department. It’s been 6 years! I’m now back at my old stomping grounds EAST CENTRAL as one of the assistant coaches for girls basketball. Oh and of course I’m a mom of 4!
